It seems the fates are against me doing this draw in a timely fashion. First, I spent the greatest part of today literally ransacking my own home to try and find my blasted paper driving license, before finally unearthing it in the very first place I looked - the filing cabinet where it should have been. Well done me. Then I went on a wild goose chase to try and find a working photobooth in my vicinity. I failed. Finally, when I got back, I could not find my scissors anywhere at all. I have written out the 400+ entries ready to be cut and drawn... but it will be at least one more day. Until I find the scissors. Or buy more.
So as not to make this a totally pointless post, I have a photo to share. I was tagged today by the lovely Cat over at
The Vintage Housewife, to show a picture of the 'Real Me'. Here is a picture of me from Goodwood this year, taken by the super Claire Pursglove. It's fair to say (as most of my readers and friends, both on and offline, already know) that when I am not pretending to be perfectly poised and elegant, I am just a big nerd.

I pull stupid faces, snort when I laugh, swear gratuitously on occasion and generally am not nearly as glamorous as I wish I was! ;)
Back soon darhlings!

but the real you is still adorable =)
ReplyDeleteand cheers for people that snort when they laugh Im guilty of it too!
love that photo! and why not use the random number generator at random.org instead of pulling a name out of your very fabulous hat? (i ask because I will soon have a drawing this week and don't want to be cutting snippets of paper myself so I thought to use the number system)
ReplyDeleteOnly because I didn't make it easy for myself and tell people to leave one separate comment for each entry/RT/blog, so consequently I had to write each name out anyway on a spreadsheet or on paper so I thought I'd do it the glam way. If I can't find my scissors tomorrow I will do that!
ReplyDeleteah, okay, i see. this will be my first giveaway so I am learning too! i hope you enter - should be up by the end of the week to celebrate 100 followers (i'm just a baby blogger, haha)
ReplyDeleteThe 'real you' is still as wonderful as the perfectly poised and glamorous one we often see. :)
ReplyDeleteSilly faces are fantastic!
Yay! Another snorty laugh lady! Don't you know we're all nerds in some way or another? (as I sit here helping my husband WoW quests....)
ReplyDeleteHaha cute photo and adorable dress! I'm sure making everyone wait another day won't kill us ;)
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I hate days when everything seems to be stacked against me!
Personally, I think the most glamorous thing about a woman is her ability to not take things very seriously. Love your funny face!
ReplyDeleteThanks doll,
The Glamorous Housewife

ReplyDeleteXO~Syd
Awww you sound like such a cool chick! Nerd and all. Go Nerds I say! :-D
ReplyDeleteOh no! Every vintage girl must have several pairs of scissors at her disposal - how else can you become an old lady who says "Don't use the good scissors!" Buy lots, good luck : )
ReplyDeletewell, in that case you must be the cuttest nerd I've ever seen :)
ReplyDeletelove the shot, your dress is to die for
and dont worry about what happened to you, tomorrow will be better ^-^
xoxo
Great photo Fleur! Even when you're perfectly poised you have personality, that's what makes you great, who wants just perfectly poised, we love nerds too!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture!
ReplyDeleteYou still look amazing, but it's nice to know I'm not the only person who thinks she isn't as elegant and poised as she wishes!
But gorgeous all the same!!
ReplyDeletex

ReplyDeleteI'll chime in with everyone else: the real you is still beautiful! I'm quite a goof/nerd/eccentric in real life too. ;)

ReplyDeleteI have no idea where my last post went. The internet is evil. Anyway. You are WONDERFUL - I adore that photo! I feel so much better about my general inability to seem poised and elegant most of the time! And you still look glamorous. Win. Doesn't everyone have an inner nerd who likes to pull silly faces and who snorts when they laugh? And I'm quite sure that even elegant ladies like yourself swear gratuitously on occasion. I am certainly guilty of it - my friends find it hilarious :D
ReplyDeleteHaven't you heard of Geek chic? You have to make the nerd work for you. Or something like that, I never really sorted it out as apparently I look like a history teacher.
ReplyDeleteI can't see the photo of nerdy Fleur :(
ReplyDeleteLove it and silly faces make the bad days shorter.
ReplyDelete♥Darla
Hehe i love it! Perfect expression! xx
ReplyDeleteLovely and silly all at once :)
ReplyDeleteGosh, don't you hate those days when everything seems like it's going against you?
And I love that about you! :)
ReplyDeleteI make a face in almost every photo ever taken of me, except for the blog ones. The same face. I can only make one funny face - extremely limited repertoire.
A xx
LOL...Your 'real me' photo also involved making an ugly face, I see. I did the same thing...
ReplyDeleteGuess i must be a nerd too, i think there's only about 3 photos from my wedding day where i look vaguely normal...haha!
ReplyDeleteI find a little geeky very endearing, and you still manage to carry it off with panache!
Cute picture! I like that you can joke around and have a nice sense of humour :)
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely stunning.
ReplyDeleteI love your striking style. Very 'Dita Von Teese'.
xx A xx
Your blog is also very beautiful.
